We are excited to announce our 2024 Community Grant funding!
The Research Foundation is pleased to partner with the following organizations who were approved to receive funding through its community grants program. The grants will support programs and organizations that expand access to care, promote health equity, and engage students in health care careers. The Research Foundation focused its grants on organizations with health-centered missions that primarily serve residents in Jackson County, Missouri, prioritizing urban Kansas City. Grant Project Name: Ability KC Innovative Programming: Adult Medical Rehabilitation
Description of Program Request: Outpatient medical rehabilitation for adults recovering from stoke, spinal injury, TBI, amputation, and complex medical diagnoses.
Award Amount: $50,000

Grant Project Name: Senior Adult Services
Description of Program Request: Low vision clinic for senior adults. Includes exams, optical devices, adaptive technology and in-home occupational therapy to support vision needs.

Grant Project Name: Amethyst Place Supportive Housing, Family Empowerment, and Therapeutic Support Programs
Description of Program Request: Transitional housing with behavioral health services for primarily women and families experiencing poverty and recovering from trauma and substance abuse.

Description of Program Request: Street medicine program administering medical care to people who are experiencing homelessness.

Description of Program Request: Mental health services for children and adults recovering from child abuse, neglect, and adverse childhood experiences.

Description of Program Request: School nurse providing medical care and coordinating health services for low-income high school students.

Grant Project Name: Housing and Mental Health Support for Families in Transition
Description of Program Request: Transitional housing and mental health services for homeless families with children in KC public schools.

Grant Project Name: Health and Medical Support Program
Description of Program Request: Registered nurse providing on-site healthcare to adults with intellectual disabilities and complex medical needs who attend a day program.
Award Amount: $25,000

Description of Program Request: Health benefits enrollment and education outreach program for Spanish speaking Latino families in KC. Health benefits include SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, Marketplace and referrals as needed.

Grant Project Name: First Call General Operating
Description of Program Request: General operating support for substance abuse services which include 24/7 crisis line, K-12 prevention, treatment programs to safely reduce or eliminate drug use. Harm reduction resources distribution such as fentanyl test strips and naloxone.

Description of Program Request: Home visiting program for pregnant individuals and parents of young children with barriers to achieving maternal/child health in Eastside KCMO neighborhoods.

Description of Program Request: Therapeutic support group programming for cancer patients and their families at their midtown clubhouse location.

Description of Program Request: Primary care clinic serving KC urban core at 30th & Prospect. Grant program is to cover 300 clinic visits for people who are uninsured.

Description of Program Request: Healthcare navigation and comprehensive case management for newly arrived refugees and immigrants.

Description of Program Request: Transitional housing with on-site wraparound services, including healthcare navigation and employment, to women recently released from prison.

Description of Program Request: Healthcare benefits enrollment and care coordination for adults who are immigrants, refugees, low-income and/or uninsured.

Grant Project Name: Journey for Underrepresented Students in Medicine Program (JUMP-Start)
Description of Program Request: Journey for Underrepresented Students in Medicine Program (JUMP-Start) which engages minority undergraduate students to pursue careers in medicine during a 3-day workshop and mentorship match program.

Description of Program Request: Mobile vision screenings in urban KC schools and prescription glasses for children living 200% below federal poverty.

Description of Program Request: Early childhood screenings and treatment for children with speech deficits. Occupational and speech therapy are provided to ensure school readiness.
