KANSAS CITY, Mo., (Aug. 20, 2024) – The 35th Annual Research Golf Classic raised more than $100,000 for The Research Foundation’s health-centered programs and partnerships.
The annual Golf Classic was hosted at Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kansas on Monday, August 19. Research Medical Center served as the Presenting Sponsor., LabCorp and Stanger Industries served as Club Sponsnors. Classic Sponsors included AT Abatement, C&C Group, Electrical Corporation of America, Integrated Openings Solutions, JE Dunn Construction, Medical Technology Associates, and Western Specialty Contractors.
Team awards included:
First place: Dr. Shawn Lybarger, Dustin Ulm, Brian Monionian, and David Williams
Second place: Dave Ruf, Kevin Hanrahan, Andrew Petersen, and Brian Burkett
Third place: Mike Popp, Luke Popp, Bill Kerns, and Grant Milbourn
Fourth place: Dr. Andrew Cusser, Dr. Jason Eppler, Dr. Erik Stamper, and Dr. Tucker Lienhop
Fifth place: Dr. Sam Taylon, Adam Parks, Dr. Joel Ackerman, and Matt Besler
Sixth place: Dr. Justin Van Meeteren, Dr. Ajay Eschol, Dr. Scott Koerber, and Dr. Josh Kiene
Seventh place: Zach Donovan, Jim Gimson, Chris Thorman, and Peyton Larue

Eleventh place: Shad Cox, Caleb Roberts, Cal McCarty, and Andrew Burton
All ties were determined by a scorecard play-off.

Hole 3, Closest to the pin: Dr. Alex Cunningham
Hole 7, Closest to the pin: Chip Webb
Hole 8, Longest drive (age 55 and over): Dennis Burns
Hole 9, Longest putt: Ray Romero
Hole 10, Longest drive (age 54 and under): Andrew Petersen
Hole 12, Closest to the pin in two shots: Kevin Hanrahan
Hole 16, Longest drive for ladies: Jackie Bryan
Hole 18, Longest putt: Matt Besler
Eric Riner came in first in the putting content, Dr. Scott Koerber came in second, and Dr. Doug Cowan came in third. Sam Shelhorn won $190 through the 50/50 Raffle.

Celebrating 35 years of golfing for our health-centered programs and partnerships is an important milestone for our organization,” Rose Simone, The Research Foundation tournament director, said. “Our golfers, sponsors, and volunteers have been dedicated to our cause for the past 35 years. They make this event and our programs successful.”
